CUNZU is a fair trade and cultural exchanging platform based in China and France that presents and promotes traditional handcrafts and musical culture of ethnic minorities in Southwest China through local and global perspectives. We highlight indigenous artisan and musicians's voices and practices by encouraging creative connections within the field of interest. CUNZU incorporates field experience in both the private and public sectors, bridging the gap between local artisans, musicians, academia and design businesses to enable new opportunities and articulate meaningful relationships based on unique cultural resources.

CUNZU was founded by a group of young professionals from China and France who are specialized in the field of sociology, art design and music, committed to preserve the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in China. The founder April Wu has conducted sociological research of the ethnic culture of Dong minority in Guizhou since 2019. She visited and worked in more than 20 remote villages of Miao, Dong, Shui and Yao group including Xiaohuang, Gaoping, Shangdai, Gaowu, Dali, Shiqiao, Basha, Gaohua where she built a strong network with local artisans, workshops, musicians, private and public cultural institutions. She is based in Paris, France and traveling between countries.
